Citizen

The Citizen strongly resembles a Phillip Mason Two-Man Hand Pumper, in use about 1799-1850, or possibly a so-called Philadelphia pumper, for the manufacturer of the same period there, Patrick Lyon or Lyons. Another manufacturer, Rodgers, built a similar apparatus, though various other companies in the area made similar fire fighter pumpers.

Most likely, JWMC’s inspiration came from an image on a fireman’s hat of the time.
